Valencia Airport adds three new fire trucks and two aircraft guidance vehicles

Valencia Airport has added three new fire trucks and two aircraft guidance vehicles, also known as “follow me” cars, to renew and expand its fleet within the Rescue and Firefighting Service (RFFS) and the Operations Technicians service in the Movement Area, both key for aviation safety.

In the case of the fire trucks, the new Iveco Magirus Dragon X6 units have allowed the withdrawal of two older vehicles, increasing the fleet from four to five available trucks.

These vehicles are fully equipped for both firefighting and rescuing people. In addition, they are fitted with battery-powered extrication and rescue equipment, providing greater autonomy and improved portability, which speeds up rescue operations.

The new “follow me” cars, Peugeot Rifter 130 HP models, are equipped with communication systems to contact the control tower and other agents involved in aircraft manoeuvres, as well as with signal lights and all the necessary elements for carrying out their functions.

The total fleet of these vehicles, after the addition of the two new ones, now stands at eight units, combining versatile “pick up” models to cover the airfield with more agile vehicles for guidance on the apron.

In addition to guiding aircraft on the ground, especially during parking and departure manoeuvres on the apron, these vehicles are also used to check the condition of facilities and to monitor compliance with regulations on the airfield, among other tasks.
